Tom Wheaton has been a working fitness professional for the last 25 years, beginning his career in New Jersey in 1989, and developing it here in Key West after relocating in 1990. In 1998 he started Paradise Health & Fitness, now the longest running single-owner fitness center in the Florida Keys.
His certifications include Floor Aerobics, Reebok Step Aerobics, Cycle Reebok, Weight Resistance Training, Basic Nutrition, and Yoga.
Tom enjoys working one-on-one with his clients, and they benefit from the personal attention that comes with exclusive training. Even with all of today’s fitness software and digital technology, you still have to set aside the time for a well-planned personal workout, and complement it with a healthy diet. It must be something that’s challenging and fun, something you’ll stick with. Tom also loves teaching group fitness. His classes and clinics provide his same professional knowledge and care, in a more economical way to stay fit. He’s proud that many of his class regulars think of Paradise Health & Fitness as “their other family.”
Tom’s love of good food feeds his second passion: eating for fitness. Drawing on his training in the culinary arts in New York, he creates healthy, delicious recipes and menus. Tom’s goal for 2015 is to introduce the taste and “how-to” of healthy eating into the daily lives of his clients and members. This rounds out his “Eat Right and Exercise” philosophy. A healthy lifestyle can taste good, and be fun too.
